I am always in a state of disbelief when I get home from the square and yet again I’ve noticed big changes since the day before. Tonight is no exception.
First off, I saw a new link on the McKinney Main Street page today so I walked by and checked it out this evening. A new furniture store has, in fact, opened on Louisiana Street over by El Juarez Restaurant & Cantina. It’s called McKinney Furniture Center and they’ve already got a web site up (http://www.mckinneyfurniturecenter.com/). The store is between Salon Gabriela and Cutz-n-Fadez (which is next door to El Juarez). They had a sign up for a Grand Opening but I didn’t catch the date. Their site says that they opened in January and it looks like they are fully stocked and ready to go. They have some good deals on mattresses and I saw some nice living room furniture through the window.
On the other side of the block, facing the square, there is also a new salon in the spot that was previously Executive Salon 4 Men. I caught up with the owner while she was putting out stock and she said that she has actually been in the spot for three weeks and that they will be putting the sign up tomorrow. A Touch of Heaven Salon is not a new salon but this is a new location. They also already have a website but the street address hasn’t been updated yet (http://atouchofheavensalon.com/). This salon is a little different from the others downtown in that it is a salon/boutique. It’s a brilliant idea. Now you can shop a little if you find yourself waiting or on your way out.
Both El Juarez Restaurant & Cantina and The Lavender House Tea Room have posted changes to their hours. El Juarez is now closed on Mondays and open 9AM to 9PM on Sundays. The Lavender House Tea Room will now be open from 11AM to 4PM Monday through Saturday and will be closed on Sundays.
That’s it for today. Let me know if you hear anything new!
Until next time,
