Don’t forget that there are only two more days to pre-order the 2nd edition of Helen Hall’s “The Way it All Began: McKinney, Texas — A History”. Per Sarah Hatcher, the education curator at the North Texas History Center, they have reorganized the book to increase its readability and they have added new photographs and illustrations. The publisher is BookMobile, which utilizes 30% recycled paper and 100% wind energy in its printing.
The late Mrs. Hall is one of the most widely recognized local historians for this area. Born in Indian Territory (Oklahoma) in 1909, she married Roy Hall in 1936 and moved to McKinney where Roy would later serve as mayor and the couple would build a legacy of historical preservation. Mrs. Hall was a charter member of the Collin County Historical Society which continues today as the North Texas History Center. The public library just off the square was dedicated as the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library in 2008.
The book will be pre-sold at 10% off the list price of $27.99. Orders must be received by May 1 to receive this price. To order your copy, visit the online gift shop at http://www.northtexashistorycenter.org, or call (972) 542-9457 ext. 100.
