I’m tickled to report another new business on the square. Open 9 days now, Lifestyle Nutrition is offering nutritional shakes with surprisingly appetizing flavors but that’s not all.
I stopped in and talked to the owners at Lifestyle Nutrition. This is an amazing idea. What they are really offering are all the same services you would get from a personal trainer but instead of paying $70 to $80 an hour, their services are completely free. Whether your goal is to lose weight or gain mass, they will provide nutrition counseling/coaching and metabolic testing. All they ask is that you buy a shake as a type of “day membership”.
The shakes are advertised as a healthy meal replacement, high in protein and low in sugar. They come in the following amazing-sounding flavors: Blueberry Muffin, Snicker Doodle, Reese’s, Cinnabon, Caramel Cafe’ Latte, Strawberry Cheesecake, Banana Cream Pie, Strawberry Banana, Mango Tango, Orange Banana, Fudgesicle, Caramel Cookies & Cream and Banana Split Shake.
They also offer:
Specialty Drinks: LiftBomb, Lemonade H3O, Orangeade H3O, Orange Lift Off, Tropical Lift Off, Lemon-Lime LiftOff, Wild Berry Protein Beverage Mix and Peach Mango Protein Beverage Mix
Snacks: Chocolate Peanut Protein Bar, Citrus Lemon Protein Bar, Vanilla Almond Protein Bar
Energy Teas (The flyer says that these burn 100 to 120 calories): Raspberry & Lemon
Trainers Special Request: Muscle Man Shake

The reason I had come down to the square was to check out the “Downtown Square Brick Repair” signs.
The corner of the square between Spoons and Landon Winery is currently closed down. You can snake through the signs to get to Parking Lot # 2, which is convenient for diners heading to the square restaurants, but you can’t drive through on Louisiana right now. Tennessee Street is open at the moment.
It turns out that they are replacing the current bricks with darker bricks. There may be something more technical going on but, from a shopper’s perspective, after the repair is done, the new bricks will be darker. The repairs will be going on until August 13th, if all goes as planned, with a different corner being worked on (“closed down”) at a time.
I did swing around the square really quickly to see if anything else was going on. Mama Emilia’s new sign is down. I really liked it and hope it comes back.
Yoga Balance’s old space is being worked on. There is no indication as to what the space is going to be.
There is a permit up in the window at the old Capitol Loans building across the street (next door to McKinney Stained Glass). It looks like it may be an new salon, according to the permit.
There is also a permit up in the old Remember This Antique Mall location. My heart jumped when I read “demolition” but I peeked in the window and that just meant getting rid of the old, apparently. It appears that they’ve already made good progress on new construction. There’s no indication yet what this is going to be, but I’ll keep my eye on it.
Until next time,
