Just a quick note.
Town Square Buzz has a great article on the events on tap for this Memorial Day weekend. Here’s a quick synopsis:
Friday – 4 PM to 11 PM – Bike The Bricks – A really exciting event, the closed course for the bicycles will wind through the Historic District. These are not amateur riders and they get some real speed going. There’ll be a lot of excitement, music, and entertainment. This is the 3rd year and it just gets better every year.
Saturday – 10 AM – Parade for Hollie Cavanagh through downtown McKinney. Starting at Davis Street, it will move north on Tennessee to Hunt Street and then back south on Kentucky. Streets will close about 9:30. Hollie will perform immediately after the parade with the Walton Stout Band and performing artist Chloe Coleman. The city encourages supporters to bring posters to show Hollie our love.
Monday @ 9 AM – Memorial Service at Pecan Grove Cemetery – This is a very, very nice annual event. If you want America and apple pie, this is it. Bring a chair and a flag to wave. Troop 303 will provide water and a community lunch. There will be music and speeches from local and state leaders. Music starts at 9:30, the ceremony begins at 10:00, and lunch will be served at 11:30. Veterans are encouraged to wear their uniforms. There are always a lot of uniforms so, if this is your first time, don’t be shy.
