I completely forgot to mention this in the last post but Chestnut Square’s Annual Holiday Home Tour is next weekend, Saturday and Sunday, December 1st and 2nd, 2012. I hope that Dickens weekend has put everyone in the Christmas spirit and you’re ready to see some beautiful homes all done up for the holidays.
The addresses of the homes on tour aren’t being released in advance but you can see pictures of them on the Chestnut Square website. Most of the homes are in McKinney’s Historic District but one is from the beautiful Tucker Hill neighborhood west on Highway 380. Tucker Hill is the same neighborhood which has offered “Ghouls on the Lawn” for Halloween in past years, an event that has transformed into a month-long event there due to popularity. Homes in Tucker Hill are built with historic elements and intentionally designed to recreate the “feel” of of a historic neighborhood with big, beautiful homes flanked by welcoming porches.
Tickets are $20 at the door and $15 in advance. To buy tickets in advance, you can buy online or visit one of these merchants: Little Red Hen, Market Street in McKinney, Smitten Flea, The Antique House, Uptown, the McKinney Performing Arts Center, or the Chestnut Square Visitor’s Center. Tickets can be picked up for Will Call or purchased on the day of the event at The Dulaney House at Chestnut Square, 315 S. Chestnut. You’ll get a map of the homes on the tour and are then invited to visit each home anytime during the tour hours: 10 to 5 on Saturday, December 1st, and 12 to 5 on Sunday, December 2nd.
The Holiday Tour of Homes is a major fundraiser for Chestnut Square, so be sure to stock up on raffle tickets. Raffle tickets are available (3 for $5) at the Visitor’s Center at Chestnut Square (304 McDonald Street) or at any of the houses along the tour. Possible prizes are:
“Experience Downtown McKinney” – Valued at over $500, this packet includes a stay at The Grand Hotel downtown, breakfast at Spoons, lunch at The Pantry, dinner at Rick’s Chophouse, a wine tasting at Landon Winery, a spa package from Spa Esoteric, and tickets to a show at McKinney Performing Arts Center.
“Santa” – a signed, limited edition print by Brenda Brandon, donated by Orisons Art and Framing and valued at $400.
Until next time,
