Crape Myrtle Trails 5K is This Weekend

Today was the last scheduled day for the packet pickup for the Crape Myrtle Trails 5K, so I drove up to Run On! on Eldorado and Lake Forest during lunch to pick up my shirt and race bib.  This race consistently has pretty shirts.  They are just really good with colors.

By the way, Run On had three clearance racks of really nice tops and shorts marked down to 50% off.  I got a really nice race skirt (my first) for just over $30 and had to pass a great pair of shorts that were only $17.  I don’t know how long the clearance lasts but there are some great deals to be had if you can get by there before it ends.

You can still get a race shirt and/or enter to run on race day if you wish.  The registration page on says that race day (on-site) registration begins at 7:30. There’s a 1-mile walk/run that starts at 8:30 and then the 5K begins at 9 AM. The start and finish line is going to be in front of the Cooper Fitness Center at 7910 Collin McKinney Parkway, over in the Craig Ranch area.

A group of us had talked about meeting up afterwards for pancakes and coffee (and bacon) but we’re currently rethinking that. According to, it will be 38 degrees at the start time of the race, feel like 26 degrees, and there’s a 40% chance that it will be raining.  There’s every chance that I’ll want to go straight home after finishing this one.  Especially if it’s raining.

We may have to move our meetup to after the Believe run Thanksgiving weekend. Certainly, we can find somewhere cozy on the square after the race!

Until next time,

Happy Shopping!
