Changing the Guard … There’s a New Gal Downtown

When I first started writing this blog, I didn’t know where all the businesses were.  I didn’t even know all of the street names.  All I knew was that I was in love with downtown McKinney and the surrounding historic district.

I still love McKinney’s downtown.  I still love living in the Historic District.  But my eyes have become too accustomed to what is here and the blog really needs a fresh point of view. As luck would have it, I bumped into someone who I think will be the perfect person to take over the blog and keep it energized and fun.  I don’t want to spoil her opportunity for defining herself, but  I am sure that we will all get to know her quite well after she officially takes over this Sunday.  Her name is Patrizia. She is an artist and a photographer.  She is new to the area, having moved here from … well, there I go again … that’s for her to let you know.

All I can say is, “wow, it’s been fun”, and it really has. I’ve met so many wonderful people. I do have big plans in the future, but I am not at liberty to talk about them just yet.

So … thank you for following me over the past few years.  You have been, and always will be, a big part of my life.

Patrizia,  thank you too.  I hope that you will enjoy blogging about McKinney and the square.  May your words fly from your fingers to say exactly what you meant every time.

Patrizia has a new email for the blog because we couldn’t transfer the old one to her.  The new address is

There may be some little bumps as we get things moved over, but, hang in there, and we’ll get them all sorted out as they arise.

Good luck.

And Happy Shopping,

Beth Barton

Beth, I’ll miss your insight and passion about McKinney! but sounds like Patrizia will enjoy writing about our favorite place in the world. If she is an artist and photographer, please tell her to check out McKinney Creative Community on Facebook. We meet the second Tuesday evening of every month, writers, artists, musicians, etc. Hope to see you on the Square. I’m always there.

Thank you, Toni. I definitely will tell her and I’m sure I’ll run into you. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to visit and catch up.
